Panic Attacks and Phobias, symptoms of panic attacks, panic attacks conquered
David's Panic Attacks
David had several vague panic attacks in high school after using marijuana at age 18. He stopped using marijuana and had no further problems until the birth of his second child when he was 29 years old.

This child was born with major birth defects including defects of the heart. She died within six months of birth after undergoing several open-heart operations and numerous, costly medical procedures.

He began having full blown panic attacks on a daily basis and spent all his time thinking and worrying about them. The acute attack lasted ten minutes and then lingered for five to six hours. When he got a panic attack, he had chest pains, felt like he was going to have a heart attack and die. He had palpitations. He felt like he was going to go crazy and loose control of himself. He had numbness in his fingers and arms, and his arms ached. He experienced dizziness, sweating, diarrhea, decreased appetite and fear that he was going to vomit. He feared going to doctors, feared that he would be put into the hospital, feared having tubes put in his face, feared having surgery and dying.

After having a panic attack on a bridge, he became fearful of bridges. He could cross them but was very uncomfortable doing so. He didn't like dark places or crowded spaces and felt uncomfortable in them. He didn't like airplanes but would fly.

The panic attacks and anxiety became so intolerable that he had no choice but to seek treatment.

Has treatment helped David? Find out it in Dr. Granoff's book, Help! I Think I'm Dying.
